Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi brightening ayurvedic face scrub Review

Hello Angels :)

Hope you guys had a lovely time in first month of this New year :)

Today's review is on the Kumkumadi face scrub by Kama Ayurveda which I have been using for almost 2.5 months now. To find out how I feel about it please keep reading:)

This product won The Vogue beauty award  for best exfoliating face scrub 2014.

PACKAGING:

Luxuuurious. That sums it up. The outer packaging is very class & luxurious looking that infact I still store the container in it coz it looks so pretty in my dressing. Come in a dark brown glass jar. Not very travel friendly. But I anyway empty my sizeful products in small container stacks for easy of use & light travelling.

SMELL:

Its has a very mild smell that's quite pleasant. I like the fact that it isn't overpowering as other "Ayurvedic" products.

INGREDIENTS:

TEXTURE:
Its a cream based scrub with fine granules that gently exfoliates my skin without irritating it. The texture is neither course or abrasive nor too fine. Its just the right consistency. Girls with large pores will specially love this as it wont make it worse. It also has a few strands of Saffron (Kumkumadi/kesar) that doesn't really exfoliate but works towards adding a soft glow to the skin.

MY SKIN TYPE: Combination to oily acne prone & sesitive. (I know deadly. Pheww)

HOW I USE:

I spread the scrub the all over my face & neck leaving the eye area in a thin layer & leave it on for 2-3 mins & then I gently exfoliate in circular motions to take off dead skin cells.

EFFECTS:

This srcub gently yet effectively deep cleans my pores & removes the dead skin cells which makes my skin a lot softer & smoother. With continued usage it has slightly improved the texture of my skin. It does help in keeping my mild blackheads at bay but since I dont have any stubborn blackheads or overly congested pores I cant really say if it will eradicate them completely but with regular usage it will help you to reduce the occurrence of blackheads.  Also it has helped me minimise the tanning to small extent.

And this scrub kept me free from dead cells while adding a subtle glow to my skin.

PROS:

1. Gentle & effective in cleaning the pores & removing dead skin
2. Luxurious packaging
3. Comes with a wooden spoon
4. All natural ingredients
5. Keeps mild blackheads at bay
6. Cleans & soften my skin
7. Nourishing. Makes skin supple
8. Can be used by all skin types unless your skin is EXTREMELY OILY.
9. Safe for sensitive skin.
10. Paraben free.

CONS:

1. Availability
2. Price (Although I consider Ayurvedic & Organic skin care products as an investment but some may find it expensive)
3. Jar packaging can be unhygienic unless you scoop out the product with spoon/ spatula & keep it clean.
4. Not suitable for very oily skin during summer months.

PRICE: INR 795 now raised to 995 for 50 grams :( Why Kama why :P

ATSL RATING: 4.75/ 5

Would I recommend? Defintely yes.  I will keep repurchasing this.

Available online: www.kamaayurveda.com & in store in Chennai at Phoenix market city mall.

Have you tried the Kama Ayurveda kumkumadi brightening face srcub? Or would you try this? Let me know in the comments below.

Unusual DIY Oatmeal scrub - Kama Ayurveda Event in Chennai

Hello Everyone :)

I was invited at the Kama Ayurveda Event that took place in their store in Phoenix Market city Mall in Chennai where they  hosted a talk on Liver DETOX and AYURVEDA.
We were welcomed with a Mint cooler juice and the Event ended with some delicious snacks.

The talk was an interactive DIY session which enlightened the our knowledge about Ayurveda and its benefits for the skin, beauty and blissful living. The session was an authentic ayurvedic experience at its best!

Dr. Ashish Kumar started off by speaking on 3 different Doshas that all of us have in our body, the Kapha, vatta & pitta. The Main focus of the Event was Pitta that is related to Liver health & what happens when there is an imbalance. He says Liver is considered as the QUEEN organ of our body.

Aggravation of Pitta is the main reason for occurrence of  many skin related problems the most common being Acne & pigmentation/discolouration. When there is an imbalance in Pitta it effects our Liver. In extreme situation it causes blood clotting, jaundice, nutrients dont get absorbed in the hemoglobin.

To help calm down pitta Mint & coriander are very helpful.

It was a total learning experience with insights on useful tips and at the end of the session we all got a chance to get personal consultation from the Doctor on what Dosha category do we fall in and remedies for the same.

Each of us received a Kama Ayurveda Hamper containing Rose & Jasmine Face care box, samples of Bringadi intensive Hair treatment oil, Lavanya natural plant mask and the DIY scrub that was made live at the store.

MYTH BUSTED: Drinking Lemon + Honey in hot water on an empty stomach isn't so much of an good idea since honey should never be heated up and lemon can cause production of acids in some. The best thing to do is drink plain luke warm water as it helps clear out toxins.

Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water Review

Hello everyone :) Today I am reviewing my HG product that goes every where with me. Its the Kama Ayurveda Pure rose water.

When this Rose water was delivered home as soon as I saw this I suddenly started singing

"Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet
And so are you"
:D

Do you guys remember this Nursery rhyme that most of us have grown up singing? I know I sang this.

Ingredient:

Rose

A symbol of beauty, purity and freshness, Rosa, commonly known as Rose, has soothing, healing, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties. Rose cleanses, purifies, firms and tones the skin. It also treats dry and ageing skin. It gets rid of pigmentation, redness and swelling and is good for all kinds of skin tones. In the case of oily skin, it balances the oil content, and can be used for treating skin irritations and burns. Rose deals with inflammation of the scalp, strengthens dry hair, nourishes the scalp, moisturises hair roots, and promotes new hair growth. It also prevents outbreaks of skin problems like acne, pore block, blackheads, pimples, wrinkles and lines. It is used as an astringent to hydrate the skin, and to make it healthy, youthful, supple, fresh and glowing. Rose petals are a great way to relieve eye pain and headaches

Product Claims

Steam Distilled
KAMA Ayurveda Pure Rosewater is made from the roses of Kannauj, a region in North India, rich in white soil conductive to roses' growth. The Kannauj rose is considered special...it has the same specifications as the Bulgarian rose.
The steam water distillation process used to create this wonderful rosewater ensures a high level of hygiene and unmatched purity.
Rose water is a natural astringent. It balances and restores skin's PH level and helps tighten pores.
Rose water is also a good non-alcoholic toner. Kama rosewater is a good non-alcoholic refresher that helps remove the residue of the previous cleansing procedures such as removing of makeup. It refines the pores and tones the skin making it ready for moisturizing treatment. It can also be used to damp skin before applying Kama Natural Plant Mask (Lavanya) or Kama Miraculous Beauty Fluid (Kumkumadi).
Kama rosewater can also be used as an aftershave. Aftershaves are basically toners, however because most aftershaves are primarily made of alcohol and perfume, they damage the skin by disturbing the recovery of the mantle, which is destroyed by shaving soap and razor blade use.

My Experience:
Now getting back to the review. I say this is the best Rose water I've used so far. I have earlier used
Dabur Gulabari (Duh most of us have used that!) and its water with rose oil & chemicals. So strong it smells. I have also used a few other ones from my local organic store and dint like any of them as much I love my KA one.

I have used Fab India & Patanjali rose water too which was just okay! But it dint satisfy me completely.

So then I got the Kama Ayurveda Rose water. Its cliche but when I first used it I was like This is it. The best rose water I have used so far.  It smells different and it works differently as well.

I suffered from acne for close to 8-9 months and  just won the battle against severe acne 6 months ago. I have used this rose water for close to 8 months now and this just soothes my irritated skin like none other. My skin totally loves this stuff.

I use this as a toner, in face masks, Any time in the day when I want to freshen up my skin. It calms my redness and helps to liven up my dull, tired skin.  I also put a drop of KA rose water in each eye after a long tired day. Since its 100% pure & steam distilled its completely safe.

My skincare regime is incomplete without this "Wonder Product"

Pros:
  1. Rose water works as a great astringent.
  2. Non alcoholic so wont irritate the skin.
  3. 100% steam distilled & Natural
  4. Luxurious purity. Chemical free.
  5. Can be used on Face & Body.
  6. Hydrates my skin.
  7. Helps maintain skin's PH balance.
  8. Closes & tightens Pores.
  9. Soothes irritated skin.
  10. Adds a subtle glow.
  11. Helped with my acne & blemishes.
  12. Safe for all skin types. Although patch test is recommended just like any other product.
  13. Soothes & cools down my eyes.
  14. Cleans any dirt or make up residue after cleansing.
  15. Luxurious spray bottle packaging, travel friendly.
Cons:
  1. Price. ( May be a con for those on budget)
  2. Availability only select cities & selected sites online.

Price: INR 250 for 50 ml & INR 795 for 200 ml. Think of this as an investment in the long run.

They've raised the price recently. As you can see in the pics 50 ml was earlier priced at 185 INR and now it hiked to 250 INR. Why? :( :(

ATSL RATING: 4.75/5

Definitely Recommend it..
